February 23rd. Gives Me Hope

In the line of MLIA, IMMD and FMyLife, here is GMH.

I recently discovered this website and it is already my favorite on the list. These stories can and will touch you. Better than any happy ending movie are these peeks of hope.

To me this is a site where I can get inspiration, but also another sign that the internet is amazing. Without any further ado, my five favorites:

Today was the memorial service for a 2009 graduate of my high school: Jenni Davis.
According to several people who knew Jenni well, one of her last wishes was to see snow; tonight during her memorial service, it truly snowed for the time in Charleston in nearly twenty years.
This GMH for her soul.

Today, I was watching the news and saw a story of a young boy with Cerebral Palsy that was told he’d never be able to walk.
His family adopted a duckling, which was going to be put down because it had deformed legs. But this boy learned to walk from copying the duckling’s every move.
His determination and accomplished feat GMH. Continue reading

February 16th. Improv Everywhere

Probably one of the coolest and most creative people out there: Improv Everywhere. Although almost impossible after ‘pantless subway ride 2010′, here is an introduction if you STILL don’t know them.

Improv Everywhere is an organisation that causes scenes. They think of something awesome to do in public, find people who want to participate, rehearse thoroughly and BOOM, unleash awesome all over the place. This place being NYC, which is where it is all done.

Since 2002 there is an annual prank they pull which is called: No Pants Subway Ride. It is nothing more than that. People just do their usual thing, go to work, ride the subway. The only difference is that in and around the subway, they wear no pants. And they always do it in the wintertime, just because they can.
This year several similar organisations did the same thing on the same day but in other places. They did it in Toronto Canada; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Lisbon, Portugal; Barcelona, Spain, New York, USA and many many more.

February 15th. Interactive YouTube

YouTube, as we all know, is filled with creative content and several times before I have made you a list with awesome on the Website. Today, we discuss: Interactive videos!

The first one!

The interactive videos were made possible with the YouTube invention of clickable annotations. These are links to search results, channels, videos or another moment in the same video. The first interactive video wasn’t that good, but it is still fun to check out. Click the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbEei0I3kMQ

MysteryGuitarMan

This is probably the most creative video I have seen in a long while. You play a song on the piano through a guy playing the guitar. Try it out: Continue reading

September 17th. Yearbook Yourself part 2.

If you haven’t yet, read part 1 first!

Yesterday I introduced you to Yearbook Yourself, an awesome website I had found. I had very little time, so the blog was short. Therefore I give you part 2 on it now.

Instruction:

  1. Go to the website HERE.
  2. Click either ‘Student Photos’ or ‘Student life’. I picked Student photos.
  3. Check the box and upload a photo. Preferably one as you would see in a yearbook. A frontal picture of your face, that is.
  4. Make it fit the frame.
  5. Click continue after you uploaded at least one photo. (That is enough.)]
  6. Turn of the audio by clicking the audio sign in the upper right corner. It is annoying, so turn it off.
  7. Click any year below.
  8. Make the photo fit the picture perfectly by adjusting it.

                                  HAVE FUN!

Result:

195419541960196019761976198819881996199620002000

I picked one picture of every decade. I think 1954 is the best one. It makes me look cooler than I actually am. Please don’t agree with me on that.

Now, how about 1960? I kinda look like a white version of Carlton, from the fresh prince of bel air, I think. But I will leave that up to you.

1976. Have you seen the Austin Powers films? ( if you emphasis ‘seen’, it sounds like Chandler from FRIENDS… I digress)

I find 1988 the scariest one I dared to put up here. That goes for the whole 1980′s collection, they are scary!

The 90′s suit me, but that picture does not. Come on 1996! I should only be allowed to look like that if my name would have been either Steve(n) or Todd!

The 2000 picture is a great example of how I should never do my hair.

Have a happy day (:

September 16th. Yearbook Yourself part 1.

http://www.yearbookyourself.com

I love this website! A friend just sent it to me, and I truly love it!

The idea is that you upload a photo or several, and place them in vintage yearbook frames. You gotta see it to get the awesome. No sign-up required. That made me sound like an infomercial, but really, it rocks!

shortest blog ever! Update on this with my pictures, tomorrow!

Daily Quote: ‘My two life wisdoms are: Never tell everything at once.’ ( and therefore an update on this tomorrow. Or that is just a lame excuse)

Have a happy day (:
