February 22nd. Roulette Radio

A lifeblog today, just about my life.

Today was awesome. I’m free all week, so every day rocks, but today was particularly cool. Why? Me and a friend were DJ at a local radio show.

Someone we know has a radio show at a local station (RTV Alkmaar) but she didn’t have a name for it yet. She asked people to come up with names and asked people to vote. We made up: ‘Roulette Radio – Random music’ and won with 40% of the votes. The prize was a day of DJing (her show lasts from 14:00 till 16:00 every monday). So that is what we did.

We were allowed to talk about anything we wanted and play the music we wanted, and it was awesome.

unfortunately for some of you it is Dutch, but there isn’t a lot of talking and you can skip that and the news and commercial breaks too. The music is all different from the R&B shit people listen to today. Just check it out and I would love to hear what you think of it.

November 3rd. Photography

I have always taken an interest in photography. Now, I have decided to put it online. Once again, like I used to, I will bring my camera with me most of the time and I will capture, hopefully, beautiful scenes.

I like to photoshop these a bit before I publish them. Just sharpening the edges, a finishing touch. Sometimes I might give it a surreal look. You will see when it comes along.

The photos will be put on my DailyBooth. Instead of the boring webcam pictures people put on there, I will put on my – I dare to call it – art. Click here to go to my DailyBooth.

I already have a project in mind with the photography. I am planning on taking a picture of me EVERY day in 2010. More people have done this before, and they made the picture with their webcam, on the same place every time so that is makes a good sped up video. I, however, am not planning on making it into a video, so I do it differently. I will take the picture at a time and place that best represents the way or place I spent that day. This way, the pictures will acquire more meaning than similar projects of others have before. I will upload those pictures on the DailyBooth. October 23rd. New guitar.

I have the most awesome guitar ever. Period. You have to see to understand.

So, that beauty is the Ibanez AEL40SE RVV. RVV is the color code, meaning
something like ‘Red Vintage Violin’. You can also get it in RLV. Which is
light-colored-wood-color-ish. No idea what it stands for.

Look at it, ain’t it gorgeous? Metallic coating, 20″ spinners, 0 to 60 mph in
2.53 seconds… Or not.

For real now, it is awesome. Semi-acoustic, cutaway, a narrow neck,
vine fret-inlay and an embedded tuner! I didn’t know that when I bought it,
but I am pleasantly suprised. 

It sounds as sweet as it looks, and it looks as sweet as it sounds. That
makes sense. The matter of the center of the subject of the point is that it
looks amazing and sounds amazing and is amazing.

I just wanted to share that.

Any problem you can’t solve with a guitar is either unsolvable or not a problem.

I have a new motto:

And it proves to work really well. I am saving money to buy a guitar. I have applied for a job, for which the interview should be coming week. Untill then, I am trying to find new ways of making money, and this motto helps. I am quite good at writing, and my fellow classmates have noticed. I always get great marks for any writing assignment, and people have always joked about paying me for them. This has now become reality. I got payed 12 bucks to write 2 stories, and that took me about an hour.

Second important thing when saving, is not spending any money. If you don’t spend, you save, and that is what we are doing here.

Another great way of making money (at my school at least) is lending money. People need money or want money to buy a coke or a sandwich, and they lend it from me. I ask a little more back per day it takes for them to give me back my money. With forgetful people, this changes 2 buck into 5 bucks in 2 weeks time. The great thing is, that you don’t have to do ANYTHING at all. You can take as many loans at the same time, untill your clients go bankrupt. It’s a pocket-size America.

This is actually the first blog I have really made about my own life. Okay, perhaps my second. I will make this a new category, called lifeblogs. I hope you like it. It is very different from what I usually do, but I find it nice to share my everyday experiences as well.
